Advertising Policy

Simple Flying is an independent free to read aviation news website based in the UK. We have a team of over 25 people, all of whom work remotely.

Our business costs include the following:

  • Paying editors, journalists, developers, social media managers, video producers, admin staff, designers and advertising sales managers.
  • Server costs, software subscriptions, security costs, email accounts and domains.

Our content will always be free to read. But in order for this to be the case, we make money in a number of ways:

Display advertising

You will see banners scattered across the website within our articles and sidebars. These advertisements are not controlled by Simple Flying and are managed by an external company. Cookies are sometimes used to personalize advertisements to you.

If you see an offensive ad, or an inappropriate ad please do contact us by using the general form on our contact us page.

You can view our cookie policy and manage your cookie preferences here. You can also read our privacy policy here.

Video advertising

On site video units

On Simple Flying, you may see one or two video units. These video units will show a video from our Youtube channel, but before the video plays, an advert may show. The advert could be anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds long.

We publish a daily video on Youtube. These videos are monetized by video ads, display ads, sponsored cards and overlay ads. You can read more about Youtube ads here.

We also occasionally have third parties sponsor one of our Youtube videos. If this is the case, we will clearly announce it at the start of the video.

Affiliate sales

Commission Junction

Simple Flying is a member of Commission Junction. This allows us to insert links into content when appropriate. Here is an example:

If we run a story on a good flight deal, we may have a link to book the flights on Google Flights and Expedia. The link to Expedia will be an affiliate link and Simple Flying will be paid a commission on any flight bookings.

The current partners who we are working with via Commission Junction are Expedia and Kiwi.

Credit cards

Simple Flying does not currently publish content on any credit cards or frequent flyer credit cards. We, therefore, have no active affiliate links promoting credit cards.

Occasionally we will work with a sponsor to publish a sponsored article on Simple Flying. If the article is sponsored, it will be clearly labeled with the tag ‘Sponsored Content’. If you’re an advertiser reading this, you can request our media kit here.

Simple Flying does have paid, ad-free access options for its website and app. The user can pay yearly or monthly to go ad-free.

Note: this feature is not available in every country yet.
